Meet Celebrity’s Newest Ship: Celebrity Edge
After years of anticipation, Celebrity Cruises has finally opened reservations and published pictures of their brand-new cruise ship, the Celebrity Edge. The first of four sister Edge-class ships, the Edge has been kept completely under wraps until this week. The Edge will contain many unique features and a modern design unseen on any other ship currently at sea!
The ship’s design is beautiful and streamlined; architect Tom Wright designed the outside spaces, and interior designer Kelly Hoppen designed the staterooms and interior dining spaces. The innovations and updates that most excited our team include the Rooftop Garden, the updated Solarium, the Magic Carpet and the Infinite VerandasSM.
The Rooftop Garden looks like a magical outdoor space, open both during the day and at night. It offers a large amount of public seating, outdoor entertainment, whimsical art installations and beautiful, refined gardening. It seems like it’ll be a particularly nice place to spend an evening, drink in hand, thanks to the ambient lighting and live music.
The Adults-Only Solarium
While the Solarium has been featured on other Celebrity ships in the past, on the Edge, this adults-only covered pool space has been completely redesigned. While this unique area will still offer a quiet, cool and spa-like ambiance, it also now features 3D Wall Art, more room and a beautiful view out over the ocean.
The Magic Carpet
To tell you the truth, when we first read about the Magic Carpet, it sounded like a bit of a conceptual stretch, but the more we learned about this tennis court-sized deck, the more excited we became. By day, this vertically sliding venue can rest at the 2nd deck (sea level), allowing for easy embarkation and debarkation for tendering. At night, it can move upwards and reach the 16th deck for magnificent views and serve as an outdoor bar featuring live music. The Magic Carpet isn’t a ride and doesn’t move quickly; it’s a versatile outward-facing venue that adapts to the needs of ship guests during the day and at night.

Edge’s new Infinite VerandasSM allow you to take advantage of your entire veranda stateroom, inside and out. At the touch of a button, your veranda doors will completely fold out of the way, allowing you a full view out over the water. With a different touch of a button, you can keep your veranda doors open, but enclose the glass balcony, turning the railing into a floor to ceiling window. This will allow you to use every square foot of your personal space as you please, regardless of weather or time of day.

Infinite VerandasSM for Singles
The Celebrity Edge also features Infinite VerandasSM made with the solo traveler in mind. When you sail onboard the Edge, instead of being stuck inside as a solo traveler, you’ll have the option to reserve an Infinite VerandaSM with a beautiful view of the ocean, sized and priced for a single.
Other exciting features of the Celebrity Edge include:
- Total guest capacity: 2,926 passengers (4% smaller than the Reflection)
- The Destination Getaway
- 99% of staterooms feature King-sized beds (an industry first for a Premium line!)
- Redesigned Edge LaunchesSM
